Term 5- Topic Farming

This term we have been learning all about farming- the different machinery used, where our produce comes ones, the different animals you can find on a farm and the importance of farming across the country.

During this term the children have enjoyed turning our role play area into ‘Broad Town Preschool Farm Shop’ where they have had the opportunity to “purchase” fresh fruit and vegetable and eat them of course! They have also experience making bread following on from the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’  and MAKING BUTTER from fresh milk straight from one of Jennie’s cows! ( You honestly couldn’t get fresher milk!)

The children have also been busy planting lots of different seeds both in the forest and in preschool which they will hopefully get to take home or eat their harvest later in the summer.

We also had a visit form one lovely parent who kindly brought in some turkeys and their poults for the children.

We also have some eggs in our incubator that the children are excitedly counting down to watch hatch… so keep your eyes peeled for future posts!
